Spoofing and the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009. What you need to know.

Truth In Caller ID ActWe get a lot of questions from investigators and skip tracers about spoofing and the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009, which was signed into law on 12-22-2010.

Even though the law went into effect 2+ years ago, I think there’s still a lot of confusion. So I’ve put together 3 posts in an effort to help people in skip tracing understand the law:

Nothing here is intended to be legal advice or should be interpreted as legal advice. Legal advice is given by your lawyer — I’m not a lawyer, and I’m sure not your lawyer!

I simply want to acquaint you with the law and interpret it based on my 23 years of experience in the business. Nothing here should be interpreted as commentary on how others do business. My posts are specifically and solely written for the intended audience of skip tracing and investigations.

So read on, I hope this clears up whatever questions or concerns you may have and gives you a basis for operations.
